I’m Paul Finn, a finance and analytics leader with 25 years in the wine business. I partner with C-suite and VP-level executives to model, measure and monitor the numbers that run the company, and I’ve adapted to just about every ERP, database and BI tool along the way. Good work rests on trust, so I build relationships as carefully as I build data models.
What I do
- FP&A: OpEx budgets, budget vs. actual, forecasts and P&L modeling
- Anaplan: connected planning across finance, sales and supply, from driver-based P&L to COGS and demand models
- M&A: EBITDA and valuation analysis, scenario modeling, ledger and chart-of-accounts integration
- Data & systems: enterprise data models, ERP reporting, APIs connecting outside applications
- Sales & supply: depletions, distributor inventory, account penetration, S&OP, pricing
- Investment: CapEx and ROI planning, vineyard farming costs, KPIs and marketing ROI

Sonoma County Wineries to Paul Hobbs, 2000–2016
Learning the business from the ground up
I started in wine as Marketing Coordinator for the Sonoma County Wineries Association, getting to know the region’s wineries from the inside. As a sales analyst at Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates, I turned depletion and distributor data into answers sales teams could act on. At Constellation Brands I moved into sales and operations planning, balancing demand forecasts against supply. At Paul Hobbs Wines I grew from analyst to Sales Finance Manager, tying sales performance directly to the P&L. Those years gave me the foundation I’ve relied on ever since: knowing where the numbers come from, and what they mean to the people in the field.
Between those wine roles, a corporate stint at Intuit took me from sales rep to sales analyst and through a Salesforce.com implementation.

A decade of transformation
For ten years I’ve kept the numbers steady through nearly every kind of change a company can go through: an acquisition, an IPO, a major winery purchase and a take-private. Each one meant merging ledgers, rebuilding models and giving leadership figures they could trust while the ground shifted.
- Sell side, Kosta Browne acquisition (2018): supported Kosta Browne through its sale to Duckhorn, then merged its ledger into Duckhorn’s chart of accounts
- Taking Duckhorn public (2021): EBITDA, valuation and reporting through the IPO and life as a public company
- Acquiring Sonoma-Cutrer: modeling and integration of one of Sonoma County’s marquee Chardonnay wineries
- Taking Duckhorn private (2024): through its acquisition by Butterfly Equity
- Anaplan implementation: led the rollout of Anaplan for planning and forecasting at Duckhorn
- President’s Award (2024)
On the trail
Building young riders
Treasurer, Catamount Racing Board of Directors
Head Devo Coach, Annadel Composite
15 years racing mountain bikes
This fall I’m helping launch Catamount Racing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth mountain bike team based in Sonoma County. Catamount serves riders in grades 6–12, adding purposeful coaching, structured training and a close-knit team community alongside their school and NICA teams. Its mission is simple: help young people grow as riders and as people, while protecting the joy that keeps them riding.
I sit on the founding board as Treasurer, alongside Matt Fritzinger, founder of the NorCal High School Cycling League and NICA. I bring the same discipline I use in my day job to the team’s budgets, fiscal policy and financial stewardship, so the organization is built to last. As Head Devo Coach for Annadel Composite, I’ve also seen firsthand what young riders and their families need to thrive.
Riders choose from three equally valued paths, and can move between them as their goals change: Regional Racing, National Ambitions and Adventure Pursuits. It’s the same patient work as a dam: steady effort that gives kids a place to get outside, grow and challenge themselves.
I’m not out looking for work, but I’m always happy to talk shop about Anaplan, FP&A or wine-industry planning, and I take on the occasional consulting project. Get in touch →
